The chewing surfaces of back teeth have pits and fissures where food particles and bacteria can easily accumulate. Even with excellent brushing habits, these areas can be difficult to clean thoroughly. Sealants act as a protective shield, covering these surfaces with a thin, tooth-colored coating that blocks out harmful substances.
The application is quick and painless. After cleaning and drying the tooth, we apply a special solution to help the sealant bond effectively. The sealant is then painted onto the enamel and hardened with a curing light. Once set, it forms a smooth, easy-to-clean surface that can last for several years with proper care.
